Kingsford Institute of Higher Education (KIHE) proudly introduces our newly accredited Master of Information Technology (MIT) program, designed to meet the burgeoning demand for skilled IT professionals in today's digitised world.
In response to the rapid development of the IT sector and the increasing demand for IT professionals in the job market, KIHE presents the Master of Information Technology course. We have created a comprehensive academic program providing students with foundation skills and knowledge in system design & development, software development, data management, networking, cloud computing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data analysis. The design equips students with the necessary skills, knowledge, and experience to meet the industry's needs, enabling them to develop their skills and knowledge in a real-world context and succeed in their careers.
The Master of Information Technology will equip graduates with effective cognitive skills, judgement and decision-making skills, problem solving skills, the ability to communicate effectively with their peers and stakeholders, ability to work effectively in a team, and an awareness of standards in personal and professional responsibility towards their organisation. The course enables graduates to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue a career in various IT-related fields, including but not limited to software development, data management, network administration, cybersecurity, and data analysis.
Graduates of the Master of Information Technology will be well-prepared to pursue advanced research and academic pathways, including doctoral studies (PhD) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields. They may also undertake specialised professional certifications—such as those in cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analytics, project management, or enterprise architecture—to further enhance their expertise and professional standing. Continuous learning through short courses, industry-recognised credentials, and emerging technology training will support graduates in maintaining a competitive edge in the evolving IT landscape.

Applicants must have successfully completed:
* Students with an IT background can potentially apply for credit for any of the first four units.
English language requirements for Master of Information Technology entry:
The English language qualification must be less than two years old.
Applicants who have lived in an English-speaking country and do not automatically meet the above English Language proficiency requirements are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Applicants who do not meet the Institute’s English proficiency requirements can be made a conditional offer, with a requirement to complete an approved intensive English language course prior to commencing their course.
Mathematics requirements for Master of Information Technology entry:
The KIHE’s Tertiary Education Mathematics Test covers numbers, algebra, data & graphs, probability, and statistics.
All students will attempt this test in the beginning of their first study period to identify those who may require additional support in mathematics.

Granting credit for prior learning ensures that students commence study at a level that appropriately recognises their prior learning experiences and are not required to repeat equivalent learning successfully undertaken in another context.
Kingsford Institute of Higher Education has developed open and accessible guidelines to grant credit towards a course of study based on prior learning, whether from formal studies or professional work experience. You can access this policy on the page “About Us”.
This policy maximises the credit students can gain for learning already undertaken and preserves the integrity of learning outcomes or discipline requirements of the award to which it applies.

Graduates of the Master of Information Technology will possess advanced cognitive, analytical, and problem-solving skills; sound professional judgement; and the capacity to make strategic, evidence-based decisions in complex IT contexts. They will be able to communicate technical and non-technical concepts confidently and persuasively with diverse stakeholders, while demonstrating a strong understanding of ethical, social, and professional responsibilities in the IT domain.
Equipped with a deep, specialised knowledge of information technology and its applications, graduates will be positioned for specialist roles across IT industry in different sectors including technology, finance, healthcare, government, education, and professional services. They will be prepared to contribute to multinational corporations, government agencies, small to medium enterprises, start-ups, and not-for-profit organisations, and will be well-suited for roles that demand advanced technical expertise and strategic thinking in IT.
